Royal Institution Science Show

3rd Dec 2025 | News

Patcham High was buzzing with excitement yesterday as we welcomed the Royal Institution for a spectacular day of science shows. All of Year 7 and Year 8 were treated to an unforgettable line-up of explosive demonstrations and hands-on learning that brought science roaring to life. Students watched jelly babies set on fire and saw the digestive system recreated in all its messy glory,

In the evening, we were delighted to host a special community show for families and children from across the city, giving even more young people the chance to experience the fun, energy and wonder of real-world science. There were imploding drink cans, homemade rockets, the tablecloth trick and even an experiment proving that a two books can be stronger than twelve children combined!

A huge thank you Georgia Egner, our Lead Practitioner in Science for making this event happen, to the Royal Institution for inspiring our next generation of scientists and to everyone who attended for making the event such a memorable celebration of curiosity and discovery.
